1 - Might get wet down there
And proceed to have an extremely stupid, innuendo-laden conversation.
no subject
-they're on an old-timey ship
-the device next to the elevator has the astrological symbol for saturn on it
-they're both wearing weird bracelets
2 - The 9th Man
Orchid is in some kind of large hall, once again quite lavishly decorated aside from the two sturdy metal doors with numbers painted on them in red, one showing a [4] and the other a [5]. There are 8 other people there. They've all just finished some kind of discussion, but the man with hair like a bird's nest has been quiet the entire time.
The number on his bracelet is [9], and Clover, the pink-haired girl, asks what he wants his codename to be. He claims not to need one, as he's not planning on staying. Indeed, he suddenly grabs Clover and holds her hostage at knifepoint, forcing her and the old man, Ace, to operate the strange device on the wall next to the [5] door. The door opens and the man goes through, but soon after there's a beeping sound. Through the door, the man screams that he's been lied to - before exploding.
Junpei and two others use their bracelets to open the door and see the horrific remains of the 9th man's corpse. Orchid - whom Junpei is calling "June", screams and suddenly collapses with a fever. As she weeps, Junpei turns to the rest of the group, questioning if any of them know anything about "Zero" and "the Nonary Game".
notes to self
-she feels a deep deep hatred for the 9th man and is grimly satisfied with his death
-when junpei opens the [5] door, it makes her feel like her body is on fire
-the screaming and sobbing has nothing to do with the 9th man, it's related to the fever
3 - The rabbit hutch (cw description of animal death)
A young Orchid and Junpei, both around 12 years old, are taking care of their school's rabbit hutch over the summer. One morning, however, Orchid arrives to find the rabbits have all been killed. She's horrified and upset, of course, but Junpei lifts her spirits by promising to catch the culprits and make sure they don't hurt any of the school's other animals.
The two keep watch over the scene of the crime every day for the rest of the summer, but no one ever shows up. Nonetheless, they enjoy each other's company and take comfort in it.
4 - Room 92
Orchid and Junpei are investigating a fairly fancy ship's cabin that's been set up for some weird puzzle nonsense.
Some little moments that take place:
-Orchid wants to steal an expensive-looking vase
-There's a weird abstract-looking painting that Orchid thinks depicts a demon sucking out human brains
-The two both get a little flustered while investigating the shower and standing close together
-Orchid asks if Junpei wants to take a shower together. Just kidding!
-Orchid gets flustered over the idea of getting in bed together
Junpei asks about Orchid's fever, but it's all gone now. They talk about how Junpei ended up on the ship: he was accosted in his home by a person in a gas mask who knocked him out with some kind of white gas. Orchid questions if Junpei is hiding something, and he turns the question around on her. She takes the opportunity to tease him a little before reassuring him that she's not hiding anything either. Based on an idea from someone called Seven, they wonder if there's a hint in their connection, such as someone they both knew in school, but they can't come up with any ideas.
Soon after, Junpei finds a map of the ship's interior. It promts a conversation on what kind of a ship it is - someone called Zero brought up the Titanic earlier, so perhaps this ship... is the Titanic itself? Orchid thinks it's some kind of weird time travel thing, but Junpei explains about a conspiracy theory claiming that the Titanic was switched with its sister ship Olympic and thus never sank. In turn, Orchid brings up the idea that the ship sinking was caused by the curse of en Egyptian mummy. Supposedly, the Titanic was carrying the mummified body of an ancient Egyptian priestess whose body was bizarrely frozen solid and never unfroze even in the desert heat. She keeps insisting it's true despite Junpei's skepticism.
notes to self
-she knows exactly where they are and what's going on
-it is extremely important for junpei to hear about the mummy stuff, not because of the topic itself but so he can consider the possibility of things beyond his understanding
